23 Months!

Oh my! Elaine is almost 2! Though it is hard to say, I am pretty sure that over the past month I have seen more drastic improvements in her communication than in any other month. All of a sudden we are having "conversations" where she definitely understands,?> and she is fairly clear in her verbal responses. Her melt downs have all but disappeared now that she is getting her point across so well, and we are having so much fun! She is quite the little parrot as she is experimenting with language. I think my favorite phrase lately is "need weed popper" after I commented that such a device would be helpful.

Elaine still LOVES breakfast, especially oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, or anything else she can convince me is appropriate for that time of day. While she is growing, 2t shorts still fall off of her. She absolutely adores her babies and is so sweet with them, most of the time:) Now that her verbal skills have improved, her "mother hen" personality is showing up more and more as she bosses other kiddos around and makes sure that everyone has the correct shoes, cup, toy, etc. Lainie still is quite the sleeper, sleeping for about 12-13 hrs at night with a good 2+ hr nap during the day. Her bed is getting a little crowded though, as she now has 2 regular pillows, lamb chop, baby, little blankie and 2 pacis not to mention the odd objects she has adopted as necessary for sleep- Jett's phone and a small plastic good from the farm animal set. Before she falls asleep it is not uncommon to hear her singing "hallelujah, hallelujah..." so stinkin' sweet! It is hard to believe that in just a few weeks we will be celebrating our precious girl's 2nd birthday. Oh how we love you Elaine Karis! Thank you for the JOY you bring to our days!
