September 2012 Family Update

Wow! What a busy season it has been for our family!  Here are some updates from September!

-Lizzie and Lainie School is in full swing and we have completed our first 6 weeks:)
-We are on book #5, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, in the Chronicles of Narnia series.  The girls love to snuggle up with Daddy each night and read together, often begging for another chapter.
-Justin had a wicked virus that had him down for several weeks, but we are so thankful that he is finally feeling better and was even able to play softball last week!
-Lizzie turned SIX!
-We had a blast as a family at the Seeds Family Worship event! (oops, maybe that was in August...)
-My cousin Chandler married sweet Janna, and we were so glad to be able to join them for the ceremony where Lainie had her first Dr. Pepper and fell in love.
-Liv is ALL OVER THE PLACE!  (update on her coming soon!)
-NewCoast continues to be a lot of work and a lot of fun for Justin, a blessing for our family.
-We have been to A LOT of birthday parties!
-Lainie started preschool in the Giraffes class:)
-I got to attend a Jen Hatmaker conference with gals from our Lifegroup.  We are currently on the MEDIA month of reading 7 together, hence my limited media presence lately.

Elizabeth Grace, my SIX year old!

Dear Lizzie,
Today you turned six years old!  It is impossible to put into words how much I adore you!  You are a loving daughter, a kind Big Sister, a thoughtful friend, and an all around sweet girl.  You are a gift to our family and to all you meet.  You are constantly making me smile and challenging me, in a good way:)
Most of the time you are cautious and a little nervous to try new things, but occasionally you surprise me.  I will always remember the time you climbed the huge wall in Elliott's backyard and got stuck!  You also conquered the biggest water slide on vacation in Missouri!  In the past year, you have courageously begun to ride your bike without training wheels, and you have really excelled.  I'm proud of you!
We have just started Classical Conversations together this year, and what a great time we are having together.  Your brain seems to be an amazing sponge that is absorbing all sorts of interesting information.  Most things we learn are accompanied by a song, and you really enjoy loudly singing all of these songs in the shower each night. Your affinity for reading has opened up an endless cavern of knowledge for you.  Books are dear friends to you, and you delight in learning new information and sharing it with our family.
Your laid back personality often baffles me.  You have lost 3 teeth and made zero fuss at all about it!  Your friend Annie pulled one and you lost one at Eden's house. Finally, you lost one on our road trip to Missouri when you simply asked for a napkin and then informed me a few minutes later that you needed the napkin to stop the bleeding since you lost a tooth. Beneath your chill demeanor though is a really sensitive spirit that I love so dearly!  You ask deep questions and are sympathetic to the hurt of those around you.  I am hopeful that God has incredible things planned for your life.  I see Jesus chasing after your heart and cannot wait for the day that I not only get to call you my daughter but also my sister in Christ.

Things I love about Elizabeth:
-You rise and SHINE ready to conquer each day!
-You choose water over any other beverage.
-Your laugh can light up a room.
-You are helpful and most times willingly serve our family well!
-Our trash can and recycling bin are only the beginning of an art project as far as you are concerned.
-You consider others better than yourself.
-You are a good friend.
-You pray for me each week before I tutor at Classical Conversations.
-You make me sweet notes that show your love and appreciation.
-You sleep walk to the bathroom each night... I'm not sure what it would take to wake you up!
-I can't get enough of your smile!
-You are an avid recycler.
-You like ice cream almost as much as I do.
-You are patient.

Memories for this year:
-You cut your hair with Kyleigh's nail clippers!
-You ate the concrete on Valentine's Day at Annie and Amelia's house.
-You dug deep into your piggy bank to give money to buy Mosquito Nets for kids in Mali and to provide food for hungry children.
-You told me you don't want to get married and have kids, because then you would have more than one job. You just want to be and author.
-I often find you hidden somewhere with a good book.
-I began reading Charlotte's Web to you, but I wasn't fast enough, so you finished it on your own.
-You have screamed many times because of a bug, but the best was when there was a lizard in the bathtub!
-You got Anna, your goat, and you do such a great job taking care of her.
-You and Liv have bonded, and you have made her laugh like no one else can.
-You finally got the American Girl you had been hoping for!

I so enjoyed celebrating your birthday with a Fancy Lizzie Soiree and 16 sweet little girls in our house!  This again shows what a good friend you are.  I didn't get as many pics as I wanted, but we had a blast with fancy face paint, fancy frame decorating and fancy parfaits for dessert!  You got some really fun gifts too!

These girls were so much fun!
 And a little CRAZY too!
Oh, Miss Bonnie!  What would we do without you?!?

This morning you requested breakfast in bed, but you were up before the sun, and I didn't quite beat you up, so you were dressed and ready for the day but still had your bacon, cinnamon toast and juice in bed:)
Following our friends, the Whites, we decided that 6 years old was when you can start cracking eggs on your own!  You got to try this new skill out today making your birthday cake.
We laughed a lot!  Cracking eggs can be messy business!
 How old are you?
You love Lainie so well! She thinks your are pretty awesome.
What could be in this bag?!?!?!?!
 NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Dinner and Cake at BJ's
 Sister LOVE!
Happy Birthday to YOU, Lizzie Grace!
I love my six year old!
Yay Sissy!!!  Liv is enamored with you!
Her name is Layla.  She is 9.  She was born September 15, 2003.
Now that you have an American Girl, you generously passed Kelsey, your Journey Girl on to Lainie.
 Ready for bed!
Good night beautiful!  My cup runneth over.

Mommy and Daddy love you more than you will ever know!
We look forward to what the next year holds for your life.  You are indeed a precious gift.
