Fighting for JOY!

We are riding a roller coaster of emotions here in the Bassett home these days. The excitement of a growing life inside of me is overwhelming, yet the fear of the unknown and the painful memories of my last two pregnancies haunt me. It is a challenging tension to walk. I am incredibly thankful that every single aspect of my pregnancy is causing us to seek after the Lord, to acknowledge His sovereign involvement, and to respond in thankfulness for each moment this baby thrives within me. We have struggled to find joy when so many other emotions are more natural. However, we have been surrounded by a precious community who have fought with us for the JOY that should come with the blessing of a new life! We have proceeded in HOPE rather than fear. We have walked in FAITH knowing that the Creator of LIFE is at work in my womb. I cannot lie, this has been and will continue to be incredibly hard. This baby cannot replace Charlotte or Hope, but there is something healing about this process. Thank you for joining us in prayer as we take one day at a time.
I am currently 14 weeks along, and my due date is October 31. The pic above is the night we told Elizabeth and Elaine about our baby after a family ice cream date and walk in Keller Town Center. As the girls understand it, our baby will be born after we go to the Pumpkin Patch:) They are thrilled! Elaine reminds me to eat my protein for our baby, and Lizzie wants to know all about our sweet little munchkin. We have gotten to see our baby 3 times via sonogram and to hear the heart beat, at around 170bpm. My next appointment is May 18th, and then I will have an appointment around the last week in May for a level 2 ultrasound with a prenatal specialist, just for peace of mind for my doctor and for us. And yes, we will find out what we are having!!
Thank you for fighting for JOY with our family!

Can I just say that JOY is a great name to bless a little girl with? After our hard first baby, Carol Joy lives up to her name!
