Well, our Big Girl has been a ton of fun lately! Here is a quick post on our two and a half year old!
A few weeks ago, we had a BIG milestone! Lizzie and her best friend Addie decided that they are big girls now and don't need pacis. Seriously, they told Taber and me! So, we decided to go trade in the pacis for something special! After a trip to a couple of different stores, Elizabeth settled on a Cinderella Barbie that can take a bath with her! After a quick explanation to the sales clerk, Elizabeth handed over her pacis to "buy" her Barbie:) - I kept one just in case! She was very proud of her selection, and since the trade, she has jokingly asked for her paci, but otherwise had a very easy time with it!
Speaking of Addie, she and Elizabeth have developed a deep love for Barbie Diamond Castle! Addie has the Leanna Barbie that sings and the movie, so the "connected song" has become a household favorite! When watching the movie, the girls MUST be wearing princess dresses and spin uncontrolably when the "I Feel Connected" plays. Definite girly girls!
Elizabeth has also been quite the helper in the kitchen. Every time she sees me baking, she really wants to help. A recent family fave has been pancakes for dinner- the recipe out of the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook is awesome! We also made "birds nests" as a spring treat last week (basically rice crispy treats in muffin cups with jelly beans for eggs).
On Easter Eve, we had dinner with the Crawfords and began what I hope is a new tradition! We made resurrection cookies with the girls and talked about the Easter story with each step. Taber found this, and it was really cool- I would highly recommend it!
As for Easter, Elizabeth never ceases to amaze me as far as what she is soaking in! She definitely grasped that Jesus died to save sinners. In fact, she began asking everyone she met, "are you a sinner?" and then going on would tell them that, "Jesus died to save sinners!" Her Easter greeting was "Happy Easter- Jesus is ALIVE!" Oh, Jesus, keep drawing her to yourself! Easter was also really special, because Lizzie got to witness her big girl friend Raegan getting "baptizeded" as she calls it. Sadly, she missed CityView's big Easter Egg hunt on Saturday because of an upset tummy the night before, but she was ready to go for Sunday morning and still got to hunt some eggs at Nana's house:)
Sweet Lizzie Grace we love you!
